PTA and TikTok Host Youth Safety Summit to Promote Online Safety and Digital Literacy
Islamabad: (November 21, 2024): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in collaboration with TikTok, organized the Youth Safety Summit in Islamabad, reaffirming their shared commitment to fostering online safety and digital literacy for Pakistan’s youth. The event convened representatives from government, education, and child protection sectors to discuss strategies for safeguarding young internet users.
Minister for IT and Telecom, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, emphasized the importance of collaboration, saying, “Empowering our youth with digital literacy and ensuring their safety online are critical to building a digitally inclusive Pakistan.”
Chairman PTA, Major General (R) Hafeezur Rehman, highlighted the authority’s dedication to a safer online ecosystem, stating, “This summit marks a significant step in our mission to secure a safe and inclusive digital environment for Pakistan’s youth.”
TikTok’s Emir Gelen emphasized their commitment to creating a safer online space through initiatives like Family Pairing, Community Guidelines, and the Youth Safety Portal.
The event concluded with the #DigitalHifazat Contest winners’ announcement and plans to expand the initiative nationwide to strengthen online safety across Pakistan.
