PTA launched Tariff Awareness Guide for Consumers

As part of PTA’s continued efforts for consumer protection, PTA has issued “Tariff Awareness Guide” for consumers. PTA understands that continuously increasing multiplicity and complexity of tariff packages and promotions, especially for the prepaid cellular mobile services, has necessitated the need for increased consumer awareness. In this regard, a guide has been issued to provide retail customers, essential information for making well informed decisions regarding choice of tariff packages, and conveying the ways of seeking remedy, should they feel the operator has not fulfilled its responsibility.

The guide explains various applicable service charges and tax rates and advises the consumers to take these charges in to account while calculating out of pocket expenses on telecom services. The guide also informs the consumers regarding PTA’s efforts to ensure that consumers are charged by telecom operators according to the advertised tariffs. The guide also advises the consumers to regularly visit the website of their respective service providers as well as PTA to remain updated regarding current tariff issues. PTA’s website hosts a number of valuable resources for consumers, including tax rates, tariffs of major operators and online complaint registration.

The guide is available at PTA’s website (www.pta.gov.pk) for consumer awareness and easy access.English. Tariff awareness Guide issued by PTA is an initiative for consumer education which would help further increase the transparency in telecom sector tariffs and better decision making for telecom consumers with regard to choice of operators and tariff packages.
