Wireless Licensing

Functions:

The Wireless Licensing Division of PTA is responsible for managing the licensing process for wireless communication services in Pakistan. Its role includes evaluating applications, issuing licenses, and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks for wireless spectrum usage. The division works to facilitate the efficient allocation of frequency spectrum, prevent interference, and promote fair competition in the telecommunications sector. It also coordinates with relevant stakeholders, including government bodies and service providers, to ensure adherence to national and international standards. It is also responsible for the identification / mitigation of Grey traffic, web filtering actions under PECA 2016 and Internet Governance initiatives such as Internet Exchange Points (IXP), IP Whitelisting and VPN registration. Additionally, the division plays a key role in policy development, spectrum pricing, and monitoring the utilization of licensed frequencies to optimize wireless communication infrastructure.
